“Between the Lines pt. 1” is the first of a four-part series of an examination of the life of trees.

How can we truly appreciate all that a tree has been through? As I walked through my friend’s backyard in Mill City, Oregon I saw something wonderful. At this moment I wanted to translate to paper and this is the result. Each ring of the Douglas fir was written in succession of its age. Like that of a real stump, one must look closely to be able to see its true complexity.
